NASCAR Sprint Cup 2015 Duck Commander 500 First Practice

Beginning at 11:30 ET on April 10th, the 2015 Duck Commander 500 practice session started at Texas Motor Speedway with Martin Truex Jr. taking the lead with 191.096 MPH top speed and 28.258s, followed by Kasey Kahne. Early on during the practice, there was blue smoke coming out of Ricky Stenhouse Jr’s car, but luckily, it was only due to tire rub. Keselowski was also in the pits, and Danica Patrick reported steering issues. David Ragan was at third in Kyle Busch’s Toyota with a 28.352 s time and 189.129 MPH top speed.

Halfway into the training, there were no changes in top 5 with Jamie McMurray and Carl Edwards behind the first three. In addition to a 15 minute penalty, reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Kevin Harvick had problems with steering, stating that the front wasn’t turning as well as he’d like. With 19 minutes to go, he returned to the track, scoring the third fastest with the time of 28.455 seconds at 189.773 MPH, pushing David Ragan to fourth. Ragan was pushed to 5th soon after when Casey Mears scored 28.544s with 189.182 MPH. Defending Duck Commander 500 champion Joey Logano finished at 17th with 28.790 seconds.
