Oliver Rowland will drive for Nissan e.dams team in the fifth season of the FIA Formula E Championship and a debut season for a Japanese manufacturer. Rowland already has one Formula E start in his CV, joining Mahindra Racing at Punta del Este race in season 2015-2016. Now he will compete on a full-time schedule alongside former FE champion Sebastien Buemi as his teammate.

Rowland has been announced as a replacement for Alex Albon, who earlier signed with Nissan but was released from a contract after being picked up by Toro Rosso for the 2019 Formula 1 season.

Oliver Rowland spent the season 2018 as the official junior driver of Williams Racing and competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, finishing in third place to Charles Leclerc and Artem Markelov.

To be able to work alongside Sebastien is also an incredible opportunity. I’m looking forward to challenging myself against the best of the best in Formula E,” said Rowland.

Alongside announcing Rowland as the driver of the #22 Nissan IM01 Gen2 car, Nissan named Japanese F3 champion Mitsunori Takaboshi as the team’s official test and reserve driver while Jann Mardenborough will perform a simulator role.
