Vandoorne at pole in Barcelona

After the practice session dominated by Stoffel Vandoorne, the qualifying for Barcelona GP started at 15:55. Early on into the session, Artem Markelov’s car stopped on track, resulting in a red flag. The race was restarted minutes later. Unsurprisingly, Vandoorne was at first with 1:29.781, and Alexander Rossi, Mitch Evans and Alex Lynn were onto him with around 20 minutes to go, all three of them scoring second place one after another.

In the last minutes Pierre Gasly went from 13th to third and Vandoorne improved his time to 1:29.273, securing himself his sixth pole in a row. Alex Lynn was the second fastest, and on fourth was Mitch Evans. Alexander Rossi dropped to fifth, and Daniël De Jong was sixth.
