The season finale of the FIA World Touring Cars Championship in Qatar has been switched from 22nd to 27th of November.

The reason of the switch is some political event in Qatar which gives a calendar headache to the FIA officials as the last weekend in November is scheduled for the last race of the Formula 1 championship. That’s why, the plan is to have WTCC races on Friday, avoiding clash between the two series.

The new date is still subject to approval by FIA Motorsport Coucil and if the date is given green light, it will be the first time that WTCC races will be held on Friday.

Qatar will host WTCC race for the first time this year and was included in racing calendar as a replacement for the race in Macau which traditionally was the place for the season finale until 2014, but later was dropped from the WTCC calendar.
