Kajetan Kajetanowicz becomes the European rally champion for the second year in a row. The Polish driver of the Lotos Rally Team’s Ford Fiesta R5  finished fourth at Rally Liepaja in Latvia, the ninth and penultimate round of the championship, and it was enough to secure the title with one more rally on schedule, the Cyprus Rally in October. Kajetanowicz has won only one rally in 2016, the Rally Rzeszow in August, but also scored four podiums in other events. His co-driver, same as in the 2015 victorious season, was Jaroslaw Baran.

The winner of the Rally Liepaja is Latvian driver Ralfs Sirmacis with Škoda Fabia R5. It’s his third win of the 2016 ERC season and he’s now in the third place of the championship standings, behind Alexey Lukyanuk, who finishes as the runner-up in the Latvian round. The Estonian driver Siim Plangi completes the podium.
