GP2 Series at Monza: Second season's win for Norman Nato

  • GP2 Series, Monza

The Frenchman Norman Nato (Racing Engineering) scores his second GP2 Series victory of the season today in the Sprint race of the seventh championship round at Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The crucial moment of the race was Nato’s fantastic start, when he jumped from fourth place on the grid to the leading position.

In the remaining twenty laps, he holds of all attacks from rivals and crossed the finish line with 4.3 sec advantage over championship leader Pierre Gasly (Prema Racing). Antonio Giovinazzi (Prema Racing), who won yesterday’s race and started 8th on the grid, progressed through the field and reached the last spot on the podium. In the championship standings, with four more races to go, Gasly has ten points more than Giovinazzi.

Third-placed driver in the championship order is still Raffaele Marciello, despite his bad luck in the Sprint race. His car stalled before the formation lap and Marciello started the race from the pits, managing to finish 15th.
