Porsche Carrera Cup Germany: Jeffrey Schmidt wins first race of the final round

  • Jeffrey Schmidt Porsche

The decision who will be crowned as a new Porsche Carrera Cup Germany champion is delayed until Sunday. Jeffrey Schmidt won the first race at Hockenheim while the title contenders completed the podium.

Championship leader  Sven Muller was on P1 while his only rival in the championship battle Christian Engelhart was on P2. Muller resisted Engelhart’s attack but Jeffrey Schmidt profited and took the lead soon before the safety car was deployed because of the huge crash in the middle of the grid after which Marek Bockmann’s and Wolf Nathan’s cars were demolished.

The race was stopped after the first lap and was restarted after 10 minutes under the safety car. Schmidt kept his lead until the end, so he scored a fourth win of the season. Muller finished only 0.4s behind the winner while Engelhart completed the podium, finishing 2.6s behind the winner.
