Super GT Japan: Sasaki and Yanagida from ninth to the victory

Daiki Sasaki and Masataka Yanagida take the suprise victory at Sportsland Sugo, in the third round of the Japanese Autobacs Super GT Series. The Kondo Racing’s duo in the #24 Forum Engineering Nissan GT-R started from the ninth place on the grid and earned the third consecutive season’s victory for Nissan, after Tsugio Matsuda and Ronnie Quintarelli won two races at Okayama and Fuji.

Sasaki and Yanagida took the lead thanks to early pitstop and excellent performance of the Yokohama tires. They crossed the finish line ahead of four Lexus RC-F cars. Kohei Hirate and Heikki Kovalainen finished second in the #39 Denso Kobelco SARD Lexus. Yuji Tachikawa and Hiroaki Ishiura in the #38 Zent Cerumo Lexus finished third.

In the GT300 class, Koki Saga and Yuichi Nakayama took the victory in the #31 apr Toyota Prius GT. Takeshi Tsuchiya and Takamitsu Matsui were second, in the #25 VivaC Toyota MC86, ahead of Takuto Iguchi and Hideki Yamauchi in the #61 R&D Sport’s Subaru BRZ.
