ADAC F4 Championship: Joel Eriksson wins second race at Lausitzring

Joel Eriksson (Motopark) wins second race of ADAC F4 Championship at Lausitzring and extends his leadership in the championship. Eriksson didn’t participate in the first race earlier today because of a penalty but soon after he returned to the grid and showed who’s the boss among ADAC youngsters.

Eriksson started 3rd behind Marvin Dienst (HTP Junior Team) and Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing). Dienst had a very bad start and dropped to 13th, Mawson and Eriksson took first and second respectively. Mawson was under control but gave up in Lap 16, after Safety car exited and the race started again. Eriksson attacked Mawson at first turn and took the lead. He remained in the lead for two laps and than Safety car again was deployed. The first Safety car intervention was called after Glenn Rupp (RS Competition) crashed and the second after Michelle Halder (Engstler Motorsport) was stranded at the edge of the track.

The race  finished under the Safety car with Robert Shwartzman (Mucke Motorsport) on third place. It was his fifth consecutive podium place and he jumped to fourth place in the championship standings.  After a bad start and 13th place after the first lap, Marvin Dienst showed his speed and battled for sixth place at the end, behind Janneau Esmeijer (HTP Junior Team) and Mike Ortmann (Mucke Motorsport).

Others who managed to score some points included Tim Zimmermann (7th, Neuhauser Racing), Michael Waldherr (8th, Motopark), Kim Luis Schramm (9th, Neuhauser) and Jannes Fittje (10th, Motopark). Waldherr made the biggest progress during the race after he started from 33rd. Mick Schumacher finished 16th.
