Renault Sport Trophy: Victory for the Team Marc VDS despite time penalty
Markus Palttala and Fabian Schiller earned the first victory for the Team Marc VDS EG 0,0 in the 2016 Renault Sport Trophy. They won the Endurance race at Motorland Aragon despite the 15sec time penalty because Schiller crossed the finish line with 20sec gap ahead of Fredrik Blomstedt (R-ace GP). The Finnish-German pair in the #9 Renault R.S.01 was penalized after they didn’t respect the minimum pit stop time during driver change.
Markus Palttala started the race from fifth place on the grid and came to the pit stop behind Lewis Williamson in the #42 Strakka Racing’s car. Williamson led the race from pole and earned maximum 25 points in the Pro drivers classification after he finished his 18-lap stint as the leader.

Tim Sugden gets into cockpit of the #42 car after Williamson and he immediately lost the lead from Schiller. On lap 26 Sugden dropped for one more place after Blomstedt overtook him. Blomstedt was sharing the car with KevinKorjus.
Fourteen cars started the race and only seven completed all 36 laps. Raoul Owens and Toni Forne in the #2 R-ace GP car finished fourth, ahead of Pieter and Jeroen Schothorst in the #21 Equipe Verschuur car.
