Maiden GP3 victory for Jake Hughes

The winner of the GP3 Series sprint race at Hockenheimring is Jake Hughes what is maiden victory for the British rookie driver of DAMS team

Jake Hughes and Arjun Maini started from the front row in race 2 at Hockenheim. Maini immediately took the lead but not for a long as the race went under the virtual safety car. After the restart, Hughes managed to retake the lead but he was under investigation because of overtaking under VSC. In a meantime, Charles Leclerc moved up to the second while Jack Aitken was third.

Hughes was cleared of any wrongdoing, so he calmly could finish the race as his advantage was big enough. In the penultimate lap, Aitken overtook Leclerc to take the second position while Leclerc had to settle for the third position what was enough to take the lead in the championship after Alexander Albon retired from the race.
