NASCAR: Keselowski brings 100th Cup victory for Team Penske

Brad Keselowski captures his first victory at Daytona International Speedway by winning the Coke Zero 400. It is is third victory in the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season and 20th victory in a career. Keselowski and Team Penske are celebrating one more big number, because Brad’s win is the 100th Team Penske’s victory in the NASCAR Cup races.

Keselowski was in the lead for 115 of 161 laps and he survived few massive crashes which happened behind his back. After 89 laps without major incident, the Big One happened on Lap 90. The wreck was initiated by Jamie McMurray, who made side-to-side contact with Ganassi Racing teammate Kyle Larson. After that, 22 of the 40 cars were involved in the massive carnage. It eliminated McMurray, Jimmie Johnson, Paul Menard and Kevin Harvick, with several heavy damaged cars.

There were 27 lead changes between 13 drivers during the race. Keselowski made a decisive move on Lap 145, passing Kyle Busch. He held the lead through two subsequent cautions for multi-car wrecks, which eliminated Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards.

When the race restarted for the last time, in overtime, Keselowski stayed in front and won ahead of Kyle Busch. Trevor Bayne finished third, ahead of Joey Logano. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. completed the Top 5.
