Maiden Formula 2 victory for Sergio Sette Camara
Sergio Sette Camara (MP Motorsport) scored his maiden Formula 2 victory today at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps by winning the Sprint race in the 8th round of the season. The young Brazilian started from the second row and took the lead on the opening lap, staying in front for 18 laps.
Nyck de Vries (Rapax), who started from the second row next to Sette Camara, finished in the second place ahead of Luca Ghiotto (Russian Time). Norman Nato (Arden), who started from pole due to reversed grid, finished in the fourth place.
Championship leader Charlec Leclerc (Prema Powerteam) made a heroic progress from P19 on the starting grid to fifth place at the checkered flag. Leclerc started from back of the grid following yesterday’s disqualification, together with main championship rival Oliver Rowland (DAMS). Rowland started from P20 to finish 8th, taking one championship point.
The race ended with Safety car in front race cars after Nobuharu Matsushita crashed out at Eau Rouge on lap 16. Despite the huge impact, Japanese driver was unharmed.
