Formula E: Buemi wins Paris ePrix and continues his domination
Sebastien Buemi wins the sixth round of the 2016/2017 FIA Formula E Championship season today in Paris. The defending Formula E champion continues his dominant march towards the another title by clinching his fifth win of the season. It’s his 11th Formula E victory in a career.
Buemi started the Paris ePrix from pole position and won the race by leading from start to finish, not being challenged by any driver. Jean-Eric Vergne (Techeetah) was the closest rival but he crashed out from the second place on lap 34 (of 49). Jose Maria Lopez (DS Virgin Racing) inherited P2 and stayed there until the checkered flag. Nick Heidfeld (Mahindra Racing) completed a podium.
The cars crossed the finish line behind the Safety Car which was deployed on lap 47 after Lucas di Grassi crashed into the wall for the second time in the race. Buemi’s main rival in the champion had a bad day in Paris, qualifying only to P13. He had the first crash when colliding with Antonio Felix da Costa, who was out of the race. Di Grassi recovered but picked up penalty after not respecting minimum pit stop time.
