Johan Kristoffersson is the 2017 FIA World Rallycross Champion. The driver of the #3 Volkswagen Polo Supercar scores his sixth win of the World RX season in the Latvian round at Bikernieki stadium to secure an early championship title with two more rounds on a calendar.
Kristoffersson has won in Latvia ahead two great champions – Mattias Ekstrom (EKS RX Audi) and Sebastien Loeb (Team Peugeot Hansen). Andreas Bakkerud (Hoonigan Racing Division Ford Focus), Janis Baumanis (STARD Ford Fiesta) and Nico Muller (EKS RX Audi) also participated in the Final.
Kristoffersson’s teammate in the PSRX Volkswagen Sweden team, Petter Solberg, didn’t pass Semifinal group. He stayed second in the overall standings but Ekstrom and Loeb close a gap behind him, spicing up a battle for the P2 in the championship.

The Latvian event was the fifth and the final round of the European Rallycross Championship for Supercar drivers. Marklund Motorsport’s Anton Marklund scored his third win of the season in a Volkswagen Polo and won the championship title, ahead of Thomas Bryntesson and Tamas-Pal Kiss.
In the Euro RX Super 1600 class, Krisztian Szabo is the winner of the Latvian round. He has twelve-point advantage over Artis Baumanis before season’s finale at Estering.
