DJR Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin continues his domination in the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship by taking his eleventh victory this season in fifteen races. He wins the Saturday’s race of the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway, the seventh round of the season.

The 26-year-old New Zealander in the #17 Ford Mustang started the race from pole, his tenth this season, then led for all 42 laps and crossed the finish line with a comfortable lead of 6.8829 seconds ahead of Chaz Mostert in Tickford Racing’s #55 Ford Mustang. David Reynolds took the final podium position in the #9 Holden Commodore of Erebus Motorsport/Penrite Racing.

With his eleventh win this season and 36th Supercars victory of his career, McLaughlin extends his championship lead over teammate Fabian Coulthard to 298 points. Coulthard finished seventh in today’s race.

The most controversial moment of the race was contact between Will Davison and David Reynolds in the pit lane. They fought for a podium but Davison’s Mustang was released into the path of Reynolds, causing contact and receiving a 15-second penalty for an unsafe release. Davison dropped to 12th place.

One more race is scheduled for tomorrow.
