ADAC F4 Championship: First pole for Janneau Esmeijer

HTP Junior Team’s Janneau Esmeijer was the fastest among 38 drivers who participated today at qualifying for ADAC F4 races at Nürburgring and will start from pole in tommorow’s two races. It’s first pole position this season for 18-years old Dutch driver, who lies at 6th position in drivers’ championship standings after 12 races, with two 2nd places as best results so far. Esmeijer tommorow will have a best chance to fight for his first win in F4 Championship and the biggest rival will be his team-mate Marvin Dienst, who will start from P2 in both races.

Pole-position for Race 1 is determined by best lap-time, while pole-position for Race 2 is defined with second best lap-time. Starting grid for Race 3 will be known after Race 1, because grid is determined by Top 10 positions in Race 1 with reversed order.

Qualifying session was divided into two groups because of big number of drivers. Marvin Dienst was fastest in Group 1 with lap-time 1.27.900. Janneau Esmeijer’s best lap-time was 1.27.587 and he secured pole for Race 1. Two Mücke Motorsport’s drivers David Beckmann and Lando Norris wil share row 2 at the start. Ralf Aron (Prema Powerteam) and Robert Shwartzmann (Mücke Motorsport) will share row 3. Championship leader Joel Eriksson (Motopark) will start from 7th place in Race 1, next to Marek Böckmann (Jenzer Motorsport). Top 10 positions on the grid will be rounded with Mick Schumacher (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Mike Ortmann (Mücke Motorsport).

Second best lap-time of Janneau Esmeijer was 1.27.918 and he was again fastest. Classification of all other Top 10 starters are almost the same, so the starting grid in Race 2 will be the similiar as in the Race 1. Only Mick Schumacher and Joel Eriksson will swap places, so ‘Schumi’ will start 7th and Eriksson 9th.

Races are scheduled for 12.00 and 16.45 on Saturday and at 15.35 on Sunday.
