  • Blancpain Endurance Series Nurburgring - practice and qualifying car No. 19

The best GT3 series in the world and one of the best and the most famous racing tracks in history of the motorsport make up a perfect weekend for any motorsport fan. Of course, it’s Blancpain Endurance on Nurburgring. As we approach the end of 2015 Blancpain GT season, the series is moving to Germany and on the legendary Nurburgring F1 track for a 3-hour long endurance event this Sunday. The weekend started yesterday with multiple practice and qualifying sessions.

As in any Blancpain Endurance race, first is the Bronze Test which was held on Saturday morning and it was won by Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Oman Racing Team which set the time of 1:56.888. The BMW Z4 GT3 was second and another Vantage GT3 was third. After the Bronze Test came free practice session with all drivers having over an hour to practice on the track. The best time was achieved by Bentley Continental GT3 (1:55.701) and Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 and Audi R8 LMS Ultra were second and third.

The pre-qualifying session had a bit of rain so lap times were slightly slower and the fastest car was Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 with 2:03.960. Audi and Bentley were second and third and this session was last on Saturday, the day one of the race weekend. However, Sunday started with three qualifying sessions, early in the morning before the afternoons race. Bentley Continental GT3 was the fastest in the first qualifying session with  1:54.896 minutes time in front of Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 and Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3. Second qualifying session was won by Nissan in front of Audi and Mercedes and the third qualifying session was surprise with Lamborghini Huracan on top spot in front of two Nissans. And with the time of 1:54.538, Mirko Bortolotti, Lamborghini driver put Huracan on pole position for afternoon’s race.
