FIA WEC: Audi takes pole at Silverstone

  • Lotterer, Fassler and Treluyer will start from pole at 2016 6 Hours of Silverstone

Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassler and Benoit Treluyer will start from the pole position in the 6 Hours of Silverstone, the season-opening race of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship. The experienced crew of the #7 Audi Sport’s R18 breaks the Porsche’s run of eleven pole positions in a row. To make things better,  Audi sweeps the front row after Loic Duval and Lucas di Grassi made a second-fastest lap time around famous British circuit.

Porsche fill out the second row with #1 919 Hybrid heading #2 sister car. Toyota Gazoo Racing takes 5th and 6th place, ahead of best privateer LMP1 car of Team ByKolles.

LMP2 class pole was taken by Rene Rast and Roman Rusinov in G-Drive Oreca-Nissan. The #31Ligier of Extreme Speed Motorsports will start second, ahead of similar #43 car of the RGR Sport by Morand.  Davide Rigon and Sam Bird took the GTE Pro pole position with #71 AF Corse Ferrari 488. Fourth-fastest among all GT cars was Porsche 911 RSR of Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing and the team took GTE Am pole position.
