Mercedes is still the fastest

Nothing new has been seen in the first Free Practice of Spanish Grand Prix as Mercedes again was the fastest.

Nico Rosberg set the fastest lap time 1:26.828 leaving his teammate Lewis Hamilton 0.070 seconds behind. Ferrari’s duo of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen in the upgraded cars were almost a second behind, while Toro Rosso had a good session with Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen finished at fifth and sixth place.

It wasn’t too eventfull session, but few things turned more attention. Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso spinned on the track, but without any damage. At the end of practice, Spaniard at Turn 12 had full circle spin. It was obvious that McLaren has a problem with a balance of the car (with new livery) after bringing new engine and their results were still far from going even to the Q2.

Reserve drivers had solid outings. Susie Wolff had 14th time, LotusJolyon Palmer was just in front of her, and even better was Sauber‘s Raffaele Marciello who finished 12th.

Daniele Ricciardo again had problems with engine of his car, so he was slower than his teammate Daniil Kvyat. As it was expected, two Manors are at the bottom, almost five seconds behind Mercedes’.
