Abt team and e.Dams early favorites

After opening two rounds we still could not get any major conclusions, but it is obvious that Renault e.Dams and Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport are best prepared for the championship battle. French team was superior during first round in Beijing, where championship runner-up from the first season Sebastien Buemi won pole position, had fastest lap and finally won the race. Daniel Abt set the fastest lap time – 1:18.451s.

Swiss driver was on the way to repeat success in the second round at Putrajaya ePrix in Malaysia, but due to problems with his Renault Z.E 15, he dropped down in the standings, so after quiet chaotic denouement. Abt team’s Lucas di Grassi finished first, to go top of the Drivers’ championship.

Ins and outs

Interestingly, defending champion Nelson Piquet Jr. scored only four points so far, while his team-mate Oliver Turvey scored eight, so we can say their Nextev TCR team still has few things to do make their car faster and more reliable. Mahindra Racing can be happy with outcome of two opening rounds after Nick Heidfeld, who will miss this race, and Bruno Senna showed they could be competitive, while DS Virgin Racing definitely have plenty of space for improvement.

;

After Trulli team retired from the championship, we will have only 18 cars on the grid. Swiss team failed to make start in Beijing and Putrajaya and that was just extension of the problems they suffered during pre-season when they missed tests at Donington Park. Team owner Jarno Trulli last year also was a driver in Uruguay and finished fourth.
