Reiter Engineering #25 wins first race in Austria
The winner of the first ADAC GT Masters race at Red Bull Ring circuit is Reiter Engineering’s Lamborghini Gallardo R-EX with drivers Tomas Enge and David Russell. This was first victory for the Lambo in the series.
They finished the race in Austria with less than one second in front of Callaway Competition’s Andreas Wirth and Daniel Keilwitz in Corvette Z06 R GT3 while the third placed Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig (Team Zakspeed) in Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 were third with a gap of 8.2 seconds.
Far behind them were Patrick Assenheimer/Diego Alessi (Callaway Competition), Philipp Eng/Klaus Bachler (GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport), Adrian Zaugg/Mirko Bortolotti (GRT Grasser Racing Team), etc.
Philipp Eng, who replaced regular driver Christian Engelhart who is ill, had a pole position for the race on Saturday but local guy together with Klaus Bachler lost 13 seconds during the pit-stop and drivers change and had to start a recovery from ninth position.
Enge took the lead over by a faster pit stop from long leading Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 of Dominic Jost and Florian Scholze. The possible second place got the duo of MRS GT-Racing as Scholze few laps later suddenly slowed and had to retire.
The Czech drove to victory clearly ahead Andreas Wirth and the four-time Red Bull Ring winner Daniel Keilwitz. Asch and Ludwig after two second places in Oschersleben won the third place on the podium.
Second ADAC GT Masters race at Red Bull Ring starts on Sunday 13.15 CET with today winners on pole position.
