Rob Huff quickest in the WTCC testing in Slovakia

LADA Sport Rosneft team’s progress continued as Rob Huff was the quickest in Friday testing for the World Touring Car Championship race in Slovakia.


British driver set the lap time 2:04.967 around 5.922 kilometre Slovakia Ring track leaving Citroen’s Ma Qing Hua second 0.433 seconds behind. Hugo Valente also confirmed good form taking a third place in Chevrolet while fourth was experienced Italian Gabriele Tarquini in Honda.


Previous rounds winners Yvan Muller and Tiago Monteiro were fifth and sixth respectively with Mehdi Bennani seventh and last year’s Slovakia Ring winner Sebastien Loeb eighth. Jaap van Lagen had ninth best result with reigning WTCC champion and current championship leader Jose Maria Lopez completing top 10 with a same result as van Lagen.


Two newcomers were solid on their debut. Nestor Girolami was 12th driving for Honda Racing Team Sweden and local youngster Mato Homola finished 18th in Campos Racing’s Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1.


The start of the qualifications is scheduled for 15.00 CET on Saturday.
