World RX: Petter Solberg takes all at Lydden Hill

With maximum points on his account Petter Solberg finished first day of fourth round of World Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill, British ‘temple’ of rallycross. Solberg was fastest in both qualifying Heats and scored 100 points in standings which determine twelve drivers who will compete in semi-final after four Heats.

Behind Solberg’s Citroen DS3 Supercar twice was Swedish driver Johan Kristofferson in Volkswagen Polo. In Heat 1 third place secured Timmy Hansen in Peugeot 208 WRX and in Heat 2 third was Mattias Ekstrom in Audi S1.

In overnight standings ten main regular World RX drivers took highest positions. On P11 and P12 are BTCC star Andrew Jordan and former British rally champion Guy Wilks. Jordan drove Hansen’s Peugeot 208 WRX and Wilks raced in Mini RX of JRM Racing. Tommorow they will have a chance to improve performance and secure places in semi-finals. It won’t be easy because all 29 Supercars drivers still have a chance to go further.

In Touring Car category three heats were held. Jan Gabrielsen (Mazda RX8) took two victories and Anders Braten (Ford Fiesta) was fastest in Heat 3. RX Lites category fastest was Kevin Hansen in Heat 1 and Thomas Bryntesson in Heat 2, but leader in point standings are Kevin Eriksson with two second places.
