Audi Sport TT Cup: Marschall wins Race 1 at Nürburgring

The rich weekend program of races at Nürburgring started today with Audi Sport TT Cup race. Unlike WTCC, ETCC and 24-hour endurance race, which would took place at Nordschleife circuit, the Audi TT Cup youngsters and their guests competed at the Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit. The German driver Dennis Marschall wins the race ahead of Joonas Lappalainen and Christoph Hofbauer. It was the first season’s win for Marschall and his second victory in the Audi’s one-make series which was inaugurated last year.

Marschall started the race from pole position, after he set the 0.107sec faster lap-time in the qualifying than the South African Sheldon van der Linde, the double winner of the opening round at Hockenheim. Marschall defended his lead in the opening laps while Van der Linde went wide in one turn and dropped to tenth place.

Joonas Lappalainen finished in the second place and scored his second podium this season, same as Christoph Hofbauer, who repeated the third place from Race 2 att Hockenheimring.
