For the Australian racing legend and seven-time Supercars champion Jamie Whincup, it was his first win since last September. He ended a 24-race drought with a commanding victory in the #88 Holden ZB Commodore, taking the lead from pole-sitter Scott McLaughlin (DJR Team Penske) on the opening lap and controlling the race over 39 laps.

Whincup shared a podium with Will Davison (23Red Racing/Milwaukee Racing Ford) and Chaz Mostert (Tickford Racing/Supercheap Auto Racing Ford). Championship leader Scott McLaughlin finished fourth in the #17 Shell V-Power Ford Mustang.

Whincup’s teammate Shane van Gisbergen ended the race in the fifth place, ahead of the remaining Tickford Mustangs of Cameron Waters and Lee Holdsworth. Nick Percat, David Reynolds and Fabian Coulthard completed the top 10 in Saturday’s race.
