Race 1 podium

In Saturday’s race, Shane van Gisbergen beat Scott McLaughlin by more than 10 seconds. Red Bull HRT was close to 1-2 victory but the late-race error of Jamie Wincup ruined that, dropping him to P8. There were two DJR Team Penske/Shell V-Power Racing’s drivers on the podium instead, collecting valuable points for the team. Van Gisbergen’s fifth win of the season secured him second place in the drivers’ championship.

In Sunday’s 250km race, Jamie Whincup started from pole and converted it into his fifth win this season, and 118th in a career. DJR Team Penske’s Fabian Coulthard reached one more podium, in front of Tim Slade in Brad Jones Racing’s #14 Holden.
