Red Bull Holden Racing Team’s Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup are the winners of two races at Newcastle 500 event, the closing round of the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship at Newcastle Street Circuit.

Despite those two wins of Red Bull Holdens, the Shell V-Power Racing takes the Teams’ championship title. Scott McLaughlin secured his drivers’ title earlier.

In Saturday’s race, Shane van Gisbergen beat Scott McLaughlin by more than 10 seconds. Red Bull HRT was close to 1-2 victory but the late-race error of Jamie Wincup ruined that, dropping him to P8. There were two DJR Team Penske/Shell V-Power Racing’s drivers on the podium instead, collecting valuable points for the team. Van Gisbergen’s fifth win of the season secured him second place in the drivers’ championship.

In Sunday’s 250km race, Jamie Whincup started from pole and converted it into his fifth win this season, and 118th in a career. DJR Team Penske’s Fabian Coulthard reached one more podium, in front of Tim Slade in Brad Jones Racing’s #14 Holden.
