Nico Müller is a racing driver from Switzerland who currently competes with Geox Dragon Racing in FIA Formula E Championship and with Audi in Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM).
He debuted in DTM in 2014, scoring four victories since then. He also gained some success in GT racing, with a victory at 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 2015 as his greatest achievement.
Earlier in a career, Müller spent two seasons in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, two seasons in the GP3 Series and two seasons in different Formula Renault competitions.

Nico’s early career
At the age of 12, Nico began to race karting and quickly became one of the best at the national level. In 2005, he was 6th in the Switzerland ICA Junior class, while in 2006 he progressed to the 3rd position. In 2006, Muller was also a runner-up in the Swiss Junior Championship. Finally, in 2007 he won the Swiss Cup KF3 class.
Nico moved to single-seaters in 2008 driving in various championships for Jenzer Motorsport. His main occupation was racing in the Swiss Formula Renault 2.0 Series in which he finished 5th after he has scored one race win. Muller also appeared as a guest in Formula Renault 2.0 WEC, as well as in the Italian Formula Renault 2.0.

Swiss Formula Renault champion in 2009
The first and so far the only title in his career Muller won in 2009. He became the Swiss Formula Renault 2.0 Series champion, having 9 wins out of 12 races and the other three podiums on his account.
Nico’s another duty that year was racing in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 but he had only one podium finish and took the 11th position in the final standings.

Two years in GP3 Series
Muller continued his engagement with Jenzer Motorsport in GP3 Series. The season of 2010 was really good for the Swiss driver who won two races, in Valencia and Hungaroring, and a total of four podiums before finishing 3rd in the series, behind Esteban Gutierrez and Robert Wickens.
In 2011, Muller dropped to the 4th position in the standings, behind Valtteri Bottas, James Calado, and Nigel Melker. His only victory that year was at Silverstone, while in the races at Spa and Monza, Nico was 3rd.

Formula Renault 3.5 Series was the next stop
Nico left Jenzer Motorsport after four years and in 2012 joined the Italian team Draco Racing to compete in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. The first season in a new environment was pretty tough for Muller who finished 9th in the standings, with the 2nd place at Nurburgring as the highlight of the year.
The following campaign was a big step forward. Muller scored two wins, in Monaco and Hungaroring, and was 2nd at Le Castellet. That season Nico finished 5th overall, behind some very well-known names – Kevin Magnussen, Stoffel Vandoorne, Antonio Felix da Costa, and Will Stevens. That was his last year in the open-wheelers.

Move to DTM and Audi
Since 2014 Muller is the driver of Audi team in DTM, but in 2014 and 2015 he also appeared in selected events of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup. In 2015, driving for Belgian Audi Club Team WRT, Muller finished 2nd at 24 Hours of Spa, driving alongside Stephane Ortelli and Frank Stippler.
However, DTM was his main duty and he was a member of Team Rosberg. In his rookie season, Nico finished 19th, while in 2015 he dropped to the 21st position which was far from the expectations.

In 2016, Muller’s results improved a lot. Muller switched to Team Abt and scored his maiden win after being the fastest in the Sunday’s race at Norisring. He was also 3rd in the season-opening race at Hockenheim, scored points in other eight races and eventually finished 9th in the standings.
Nico also continued to race with considerable success in both Sprint and Endurance Cup of the Blancpain GT Series, and also appeared in one race of Intercontinental GT Challenge.

In 2017, Muller had a very wide programme of races with Audi, even trying to compete in rallycross. He spent one more DTM season with Abt Sportsline, scoring two podiums and finishing 12th in the points. In GT races, he competed in Blancpain GT Series and FIA GT World Cup.
He also made two starts in the World Rallycross Championship, driving the #51 Audi S1 EKS RX for Mattias Ekstrom's team. He even entered the Final round in Latvia, finishing in the sixth place.

Muller stayed with Audi in the 2018 DTM season, finishing tenth in the final standings. Then, his best DTM season followed in 2019.
He was a race winner three times, at Misano, Lausitz and Hockenheimring, fighting for the championship against Audi teammate Rene Rast. In the end, Rast captured his second title, Muller finished second.
Formula E as a new challenge
In September 2019 it was announced that Nico Muller will join Geox Dragon Racing in the FIA Formula E Championship season 6 that will start in November.
