The last race of the 2015 Blancpain Sprint Series will be held this weekend in Zandvoort. The 2015 champion has still not been decided and will only be known after this important race. The Zandvoort event has been put into the calendar to cover the Baku race which was cancelled. After last week’s Misano race, this weekend will be the crowning glory of the season.

For those who don’t remember, last week the season’s favourite Laurens Vanthoor crashed during the qualifying race in Misano, injuring himself and therefore won’t be able to race on Sunday.

His team managed to find replacement in likes of Christopher Mies who will be sharing the Audi R8 LMS Ultra with Robin Frijns. After Vanthoor’s crash, Bentley boys (Vincent Abril and Maximilian Buhk) are just 8 points behind the Vanthoor/Frijns and are keen on a win on Sunday.

In Friday’s practice sessions, Bentley dominated the first with a time of 1:38.084 minutes which was just 0.806 faster than Audi of Mies and Frijns. However, in the second practice session, Audi was the absolute winner with first four places. Frederic Vervisch and Nicki Thiim were fastest in the second WRT Audi Team car but their time was just a little bit slower that the Bentley’s in the first session.
