Volland Racing is a German racing team which successfully competes in the European Rallycross Championship, clinching four championship titles in Super 1600 class in recent years.

The team, based in Hilpoltstein, Bavaria, is owned by 13-time German rallycross champion Rolf Volland.

Three consecutive titles from 2016 to 2018

The team’s latest success is the championship title in the S1600 class of the 2018 European Rallycross Championship for the Lithuanian Rokas Baciuska, who was driving Volland Racing’s Škoda Fabia S1600. The team’s domination in S1600 class was completed by two more drivers on the podium – Aydar Nuriev was second and Artis Baumanis finished third in the championship.

In the previous two seasons, the Hungarian Krisztian Szabo won championship titles in the Super 1600 class, both at the wheel of Škoda Fabia. He had a company of teammates on a podium because Kasparas Navickas finished third in the championship in 2016 while Artis Baumanis was a vice-champion in 2017.

Before winning three consecutive titles from 2016 to 2018, the most successful ERX season for Volland Racing was 2014 when two Russians, Sergej Zagumennov and Nikita Misyulya, jointly brought five S1600 class wins to the team. Three-time winner Zagumennov, who was driving the #16 Škoda Fabia, won the European title, while Misyulya finished second in the points.

The season 2014 was a rookie year for Krisztian Szabo, who debuted in VR’s Fabia in the season’s finale at Franciacorta, finishing on the podium. Another rookie in the team was Kasparas Navickas. In the previous seasons (2012 and 2013), Volland Racing’s Fabia S1600 was driven by Vadim Makarov who finished 6th and 7th in the points.

13 rallycross championship titles for Rolf Volland

The team owner Rolf Volland (born on August 24, 1967) started his racing career in 1984, driving go-karts. In 1989, he moved into autocross, winning three European championship titles until 1994. In 1995, Volland debuted in the rallycross competitions, finishing third in the German championship.

The first German title followed in 1996. Volland waited for his second title until 1999 and then he started a fantastic streak of eleven championship titles in a row. He was running Volkswagen Golf 16V Turbo and Škoda Fabia T16 4×4. The last triumph came in 2011. After that, Volland retired from racing and focused on the team’s leadership, entering a partnership with RAVENOL in 2013 to further bolster team’s position and lead young drivers to the top of the European rallycross scene.
