Scott McLaughlin doubles up his triumph at Barbagallo Raceway today in the second race of the Perth SuperSprint, the fourth round of the 2017 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

After yesterday’s maiden V8SC victory with Ford, DJR Penske’s driver was fastest again at the famous Western Australia’s circuit, starting from pole and dominating in the 83-lap race.

This was another 1-2 victory for Ford with Chaz Mostert bringing the #55 Supercheap Auto Racing’s Ford Falcon to the second place. Mostert started from P2 and stayed there throughout the race.

Jamie Whincup reached the last podium spot, starting from P6 in the #88 Red Bull Holden and progressing to P4 in the opening lap. Later he switched a position with Prodrive Racing’s Mark Winterbottom, who finished in the fourth place. Tekno Autosports’ Will Davison made a significant progress from P8 to finish in the fifth place.

After eight races, Fabian Coulthard remains in the championship lead. He collects 802 points, 19 more than Shane van Gisbergen. Jamie Whincup follows with 780 points, nine more than Chaz Mostert and Scott McLaughlin.

The next round of the championship is the Winton SuperSprint at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria on May 20-21.
