Will Power (Team Penske) wins the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 race at the Gateway Motorsports Park, the 15th round of the 2018 IndyCar Series.

It’s the third win of the season for Power and the 35th in a career which helps him to stay in the championship fight against Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Alexander Rossi (Andretti Autosport), who shared a podium with him at Gateway. Rossi was second, Dixon was third.

After fifteen races, with just two more races to go, Dixon leads the championship with 568 points, 26 more than Rossi. Power is third with 501 points. The fourth-placed Josef Newgarden (Team Penske), who finished seventh at Gateway, is still in the serious contention for the title with 490 points on his account. The fifth-placed Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) also has mathematical chances.

Scott Dixon led for the most laps (145) in Saturday’s 248-lap race at 1.25-mile oval but Will Power was dominant in the second part of the race, leading for 93 laps and winning the race by 1.3117 seconds over Alexander Rossi.

The next IndyCar Series race is the Grand Prix of Portland on September 2.
