Azerbaijan Grand Prix: Fourth in a row double victory for Mercedes

Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) wins the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at Baku City Circuit, the fourth round of the 2019 Formula 1 World Championship. His teammate Lewis Hamilton finished second, securing the fourth in a row double victory for Mercedes this season.

After starting from pole position, Bottas was untouchable for the entire race and he scored his fifth F1 victory in a career which promoted him to the championship leader after four rounds.

Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) completed the podium. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) finished the race in the fourth place, ahead of Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who started 8th on the grid after his crash in the qualifying. Leclerc took the additional point for the fastest lap, setting the new track record on the last lap of the race.

Other point-scorers are Sergio Perez (Racing Point), Carlos Sainz (McLaren), Lando Norris (McLaren), Lance Stroll (Racing Point) and Kimi Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo Racing).

Bottas leads the championship standings with 87 points, just one more than Lewis Hamilton. There is also a one-point gap (52:51) between third-placed Sebastian Vettel and fourth-placed Max Verstappen. Charles Leclerc is fifth with 47 points.

The next race on F1 calendar is the Spanish Grand Prix on May 12.
