6 Hours of Fuji: Another 1-2 for Porsche in qualifying

Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard, driving the #17 Porsche 919 Hybrid, took the pole for tomorrow’s 6 Hours of Fuji, the sixth round of 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship. With a combined lap time of 1.22.763 at Fuji Speedway, they secured their third pole of the season and another 1-2 start for Porsche Team, because Marc Lieb and Neel Jani had a second fastest combined laptime. In the single laps Mark Webber was the fastest LMP1 driver ever at Fuji with a laptime of 1.22.639.

Two Porsches will start ahead of two Audis. Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer in #7 R18 e-tron quattro were just 0.011s slower than #18 Porsche. Lucas di Grassi and Loic Duval  qualified #8 Audi at fourth place. Toyota Racing will have two cars in third row, ahead of two Rebellion’s prototypes in Row 4.

In LMP2 class G-Drive Racing’s Ligier-Nissan scored 1-2 grid positions, after #26 car was faster than #28 by 0.221s. Sam Bird and Julien Canal sealed second consecutive pole and third in total so far in 2015. Third in qualifying was Team SARD Morand’s Morgan Evo. Pierre Ragues and Oliver Webb combined to score the best qualifying result of the season for the Swiss team. The category leaders from KCMG will start fourth.

Qualifying session for LMGTE cars ended with a debut pole for AF Corse’s Davide Rigon and James Calado at the wheel of Ferrari 458. Their teammates Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander secured second place at the starting grid. Larbre Competition’s Chevrolet Corvette was the fastest in LMGTE Am class with Gianluca Roda and Paolo Ruberti at the wheel, for the first tine this season.
