Six Hours of The Glen: 1-2 for the Action Express Racing

Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi took the victory in the Six Hours of The Glen, the sixth round of the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. It was 1-2 victory for the Action Express Racing, because teammates Dane Cameron and Eric Curran crossed the finish line as second-placed crew. For defending IMSA champions Barbosa and Fittipaldi, it was the first victory  of the season. They led for 107 of 197 lap and crossed the finish line 0.709sec ahead of teammates.

Behind two Corvette DP prototypes, the #60 Ligier JS P2 of the Michael Shank Racing  finished third. It was driven by Olivier Pla, John Pew and Ozz Negri. The brothers Ricky and Jordan Taylor, joined by Max Angelelli in the #10 Corvette DP, finished fourth.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing also scored double podium

In the GTLM class, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing scored 1-2 victory with at the 3.4-mile Watkins Glen International circuit. The winners were Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe in the #67 Ford GT, ahead of #66 sister car of Joey Hand and Dirk Muller. Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner, in the #25 BMW M6 GTLM, finished third.

Starworks Motorsport with drivers Renger van der Zande and Alex Popow scored victory in the Prototype Challenge (PC) class, reserved for Oreca FLM09 cars. Kyle Marcelli and James French, in the #38 Performance Tech Motorsports entry, finished second. Starworks Motorsport had also a second car on the podium, as  Mark Kvamme, Richard Bradley and Remo Ruscitti finished third.

In the GTD class, championship leaders Christina Nielsen and Alessandro Balzan extended their lead.They won the race, joined by Jeff Segal in the #63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GTE. The Magnus Racing #44 Audi finished second, driven by Andy Lally, John Potter and Dion von Moltke. Mario Farnbacher, Alex Riberas and Ian James finished third in the #23 Heart of Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R.
