BTCC: 1-2-3 win for West Surrey Racing's BMWs at Croft

Andy Priaulx (West Surrey Racing) wins at Croft Circuit today and claimed his first BTCC win after returning to one of leading world’s touring car series. WSR team made fantastic success because Sam Tordoff was second and Rob Collard finished third.

Three BMW 125i M Sport drivers had a good start and escaped to others. Started from pole Tordoff was leading till Lap 6, when Priaulx overtook him. After action packed 15 laps Honda Yuasa drivers Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal finished fourth and fifth. Shedden was secure on fourth while Neal had to fight with Andrew Jordan (MG Triple Eight) and Colin Turkington (Team BMR).

There was lots of great fights all around the field. At the end successful in the run for the points were Tom Ingram (Speedworks), Adam Morgan (WIX Racing) and Jack Goff (MG Triple Eight), who rounded the Top 10. Team BMR’s Aron Smith lost one point for just 0.055 seconds.

New leader in championship standings are Gordon Shedden with 167 points, ahead Matt Neal with 160 points. Jason Plato (Team BMR) dropped to third with 157 points, as he didn’t get any point in first race at Croft. He qualified 12th and decided to start from the pits, to make fastest lap on clear track. It’s because driver with fastest lap will start from the pole in second race at Croft.

Plato partially succeed with only third lap-time. Fastest was Sam Tordoff and he will again started from pole, sharing front row with team-mate Andy Priaulx. Plato will sharing second row with Gordon Shedden.

Rookie Nicolas Hamilton, younger brothe of F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, finished 25th in AmD Tuning’s Audi S3.
