Josh Cook (Power Maxed Racing, Vauxhall Astra), Tom Ingram (Speedworks Motorsport, Toyota Avensis) and Adam Morgan (Ciceley Motorsport, Mercedes A Class) are the winners of the second BTCC weekend of the season at Donington Park.
Josh Cook started from pole in Race 1 and converted in into his maiden BTCC victory. For Tom Ingram, a triumph in Race 2 was his second this season and the 8th BTCC win in a career. Adam Morgan clinched his fifth BTCC win in a career in the last race of the day.
In Sunday’s first race, Josh Cook converted the pole position into his first ever BTCC victory. The driver of the #66 Vauxhall Astra was in the lead from lights to flag. He crossed the finish line 3.449 seconds ahead of Daniel Cammish (Halfords Yuasa Honda). Laser Tools Mercedes of Aiden Moffat was further two seconds behind in the third place.
Three different drivers occupied a podium after the Race 2. Tom Ingram took his second win of the season in the #80 Toyota Avensis to extend his championship lead. After progressing from P13 to P1, Ingram was on the finish line just 0.834 seconds ahead of Chris Smiley in #22 BTC Norlin Racing Honda Civic. Jack Goff completed the podium, after he also made huge progress from P12 on the grid in the #31 Eurotech Racing Honda Civic.
Rory Butcher finished ninth in the Race 2 in a MG6 GT, gaining pole position for the reverese-grid Race 3. He lost a lead during the opening lap to reigning champion Ashley Sutton in a Subaru and Adam Morgan in the #33 Mercedes A-Class. Behind their back, the multi-car wreck caused Safety car intervention.
Later in the race, Morgan’s move for the lead came on Lap 8. Sutton lost few more places. Josh Cook managed to finish in the second place for his second podium of the day. Aiden Moffat also reached his second podium, finishing in the third place.
