BTCC - Rockingham: Shedden converts pole to victory

Gordon Shedden (Honda Yuasa Racing) took a dominant win in the second BTCC race today at Rockingham and increased the lead in the championship standings. Shedden in Honda Civic Type R started from pole and converted that starting position to his fourth season’s win.

Winner of the previous race Mat Jackson (Motorbase Performance) made a good start from third with Ford Focus ST and overtook Adam Morgan in Wix Racing’s Mercedes A-Class. They were holding their positions until the last lap, when Morgan lost his podium spot against Josh Cook in Power Maxed Racing’s Chevrolet Cruze. Cook was the real hero of the race because he started from 14th position and climbed all over the field for his first ever BTCC podium.

Matt Neal in Honda Yuasa’s Civic Type R and Rob Austin in Exocet AlcoSense’s Audi A4 were close to the leading pack and finished 5th and 6th respectively. Jason Plato took the maximum from Team BMR’s Volkswagen and made a progress from P12 at start to P7 at the finish. Colin Turkington (Team BMR), Jack Goff (MG Triple Eight) and Tom Ingram (Speedworks Motorsport) rounded Top 10.
