Jerome D’Ambrosio won the pole position for the second time this season. Dragon Racing driver drove excellently during Super Pole battle, beating Lucas Di Grassi and Daniel Abt from ABT Schaeffler Audi team and Renault e.Dams pair Nico Prost and Sebastien Buemi. Reigning champion Nelson Piquet Jr crashed his NEXTEV during the first round of qualifying so started from the back of the grid.

The start of the race was clear, without accidents, but also without too many overtaking during opening laps. Buemi moved up to the fourth overtaking Abt while Vergne dropped well down due to a problem with the front wing. Gaps between top five were very tight. They were within two seconds and in a lap before going into the pit for a cars change, Di Grassi managed to overtake Prost for second.

After pit-stop, D’Ambrosio was still on the top, Di Grassi remained second while Buemi moved up to third, leaving Prost on fourth. But, the Belgian didn’t stay on the top for a long as Di Grassi overtook him using fan boost on lap 24. Buemi was aggressive as always but also too nervous, constantly complaining about D’Ambrosio’s driving style.
