2015 BTCC: Plato wins again, despite maximum ballast

  • Jason Plato

Jason Plato wins again at Oulton Park, second time today. It’s still one race to go, so can we expect Plato’s hat-trick? If team BMR’s Volkswagen CC Plato wins Race 11 of British Touring Car Championship with maximum success ballast of 75 kilos ahead Gordon Shedden (Honda Yuasa Racing) in Honda Civic Type R and Andrew Jordan (MG Triple Eight) in MG6 GT.

As in the first race earlier today all three podium finishers are the same as they started the race. Shedden threatened Plato but never got the opportunity to overtake him. Jordan was under the attack of Rob Collard, who started from P8 and jumped to P4, but at the last lap, Collard’s race was ruined by WSR teammate Andy Priaulx. They had  contact, both BMWs were damaged and as a result fell on the points tally.

That promoted Matt Neal (Honda Yuasa) to fourth place and third BMW driver Sam Tordoff to fifth. The other drivers to finish point were Adam Morgan (Wix Racing), Aron Smith (Team BMR), Colin Turkington (Team BMR), Jack Goff (MG Triple Eight) and Jeff Smith (Eurotech Racing).
