The first win of the season for Newgarden
After finishing as a runner-up in 2014 and 2015, Newgarden finally won the race at Iowa. Driving his Chevrolet, Newgarden scored this third career victory and moved up to the second place in the Drivers’ Championship, 73 points behind the leader Simon Pagenaud who finished fourth in the race.
In the 10th race of the season, Newgarden started from the front row and led 282 laps, what is the new series record, on the way to his first maiden triumph at oval track. Will Power finished second, 4.282s behind the winner while Scott Dixon took the third place.
Next round of the IndyCar Series will go on 17th of July in Toronto.
