Rosberg on pole in Hungary
Nico Rosberg won pole position for the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix after he was the fastest in the very long and interesting qualifying session.
Rain caused problems and many delays and just the first qualifying round lasted more than an hour. The rain finally stopped but two drivers were unable to finish it. Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Massa crashed and their cars were badly damaged, so they were unable to continue a session, just as Rio Haryanto who crashed in the last minute.
The conditions on the track in Q2 became much better and this session was one of the most exciting in this season. Max Verstappen was the fastest scoring the lap time of 1:22.660 while out of the last qualifying round stayed Romain Grosjean, Daniil Kvyat, Sergio Perez, Kimi Raikkonen, Esteban Gutierrez and Felipe Nasr.
The last qualifying round was slightly shortened after Fernando Alonso spun on his final lap. It looked like Lewis Hamilton will clinch another pole position but in the last seconds Nico Rosberg set 0.143s better time and will start from P1 in Sunday’s race. Red Bull’s pair Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen will start from row two while Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz will start from row three, followed by Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Nico Hulkenberg and Valtteri Bottas.
